Of all the places we've stayed in the world, Ulaman Bali remains one of the most unforgettable - it's somewhere we've been desperate to return to ever since.

It's located only 20 minutes from the busy tourist areas of Canggu and Seminyak, but it feels like a different world (like something straight out of Avatar).

The resort is built mainly from bamboo, with some incredibly unique architecture that feels both natural and modern.

There are jungle-surrounded infinity pools and villas that actually float above a bio-filtered lake (with plants to keep the insects away).

During our stay, we got to experience two villas. The Lake Villa sits right above the water and has a hanging net daybed and a beautiful hand-carved bathtub.

The Sky Villa is up high, nestled in the treetops, with amazing views over the jungle and rice fields.

Both villas are made almost entirely of bamboo but have all the comforts you’d expect from a luxury hotel.

What really sets Ulaman apart is the incredible attention to detail in room and the exceptional facilities they offer.

You can choose to start your morning with yoga in the treetop shala, or skip straight to breakfast in the most beautifully designed restaurant we've ever seen.

The even resort runs on sustainable energy from its own hydro turbine and the water is filtered from their own well to avoid plastic waste.

So, if you’re thinking about a trip to Bali and want something different from the usual tourist spots, Ulaman Bali is definitely one for the bucket list - a place where design, nature and luxury come together perfectly.
