In this guide, we’ll break down the best areas and accommodation options on Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue, to help you figure out where to stay on each island based on your travel style and budget.
We stayed on all three of the main islands: Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue, which we would highly recommend as each island offers something unique.
Mahé vs Praslin vs La Digue – Which Island Should You Stay On?
If you're trying to decide which island to stay on in the Seychelles, here's a quick overview of what to expect from each of the main three. We recommend visiting more than one if you have time.
Mahé
Mahe is the largest island, with an international airport and the widest range of accommodation options. It's a great all-rounder with beaches, mountains, hiking and local culture.

Praslin
Praslin is smaller and more relaxed than Mahé, but still developed, and is known for its stunning beaches and lush nature. It has a much slower pace and is accessible by a short flight or ferry from Mahé.

La Digue
La Digue is the smallest and most laid-back of the three main islands, it's car-free with bikes as the main mode of transport. It's best for photographers and slow travel lovers, and is reached by ferry from Praslin or Mahé.

Where to Stay in Mahé
Mahé is the largest and most diverse island in the Seychelles, with the most accommodation options. Whether you want to be close to the beach, mountains or city, Mahé has plenty of areas to choose from.
Best for Beach & Lively atmosphere - Beau Vallon
Beau Vallon is Mahé’s most popular beach area, with a long sandy beach, calm waters and a lively atmosphere. It’s perfect for water sports, beach bars, and easy access to local restaurants and shops.

On our first two nights we stayed at Sables d'Or Luxury Apartments, which was in this area, right on the beachfront. It was modern, cosy and we'd highly recommend it.
Recommended hotels ✨
- Savoy Resort & Spa (Luxury) - Luxury resort with multiple pools, spa and direct beach access.
- Sables d'Or Luxury Apartments (Mid-Range) - Great mid-range apartments right on the beachfront.
- La Maison Hibiscus Self Catering (Budget) - Affordable apartments steps away from the beach.
Best for city atmosphere - Victoria
Victoria is the Seychelles’ capital city, offering a mix of local culture, markets, restaurants and historical sites. It's close to transport links and is only a short drive from spots like Beau Vallon Beach.
We wouldn't personally choose Victoria, as it's much nicer to stay near the beach or closer to nature. There's also only really a few apartments and hotels, so there's not much choice.
Recommended hotels ✨
- The Quadrant Luxury Apartments (Mid-range) - Modern 1-2 bedroom apartments in the city centre.
Best for a quiet escape - South Mahé
The southern part of Mahé is quieter and more lush, with hills and forests surrounding secluded beaches. It’s ideal for nature lovers and those wanting a peaceful retreat. It's definitely an area we'd love to stay in if we return!

Recommended hotels ✨
- Four Seasons Resort Seychelles (Luxury) - Ultra-luxury private resort with hillside villas and an infinity pool overlooking Petite Anse.
- Le Nautique Beachfront Apartments (Mid-range) - Stylish beachfront apartments with a pool and sea views.
- Sunbird Bungalow (Budget) - Simple, clean, and cosy rooms with garden views.
Best for private & luxury - Eden Island
Eden Island is a man-made marina and residential area just off the northeast coast of Mahé. It has luxury apartments, shoppin and dining in a safe, gated community, perfect for families or longer stays.
We stayed at Eden Island Apartments on our last two nights and couldn't recommend it more. The apartment was spacious and modern, and the food at the Eden Bleu Hotel was incredible. We even had our own golf buggy to drive around the resort!
Recommended hotels ✨
- Eden Bleu Hotel (Luxury) - Resort with modern amenities, pools, and marina views.
- Eden Island Apartments (Luxury) - Self-catering apartments ideal for longer stays or families.
Where to Stay in Praslin
Praslin is quite a small island so wherever you choose to stay, you won't be far away from attractions and towns. It's quieter and more laid-back than Mahe, but still has a variety of areas and accommodations.

Best for Beach & Lively atmosphere - Anse Volbert Village and Grand Anse
Both Anse Volbert Village (Côte d’Or) and Grand Anse are popular places to stay, with a long beach, restaurants and shops. Both are very relaxed areas, but Grand Anse is a bit quieter. You'll find plenty of resorts, hotels and apartments in both areas.
We stayed at Paradise Sun Hotel which is in Anse Volbert, right on the beachfront. The resort was absolutely incredible and we would highly recommend it. We had free kayaks and paddle boards to use, and the private villas were beautiful.

Recommended hotels ✨
- Paradise Sun Hotel (Luxury) – Beachfront resort with beach cabins, a spa, and a relaxed tropical vibe.
- Les Villas D’Or (Mid-range) – Spacious, self-catering villas set in a peaceful beachfront garden.
- Palm Beach Hotel (Budget) – Simple, comfortable hotel right by the ocean with great sunset views.
Best for Seclusion & Luxury stays - West Praslin / Anse Lazio & Anse Georgette Area
On the west of the island are some of the most gorgeous beaches, such as Anse Lazio and Anse Georgette. This is also where you'll find some of the most incredible luxury resorts on Praslin.

These are great options if you're after privacy and seclusion, while also having easy access to some of the world's most beautiful beaches.
Recommended hotels ✨
- Raffles Seychelles (Luxury) - Iconic private villas in the hillside, with infinity pools and top-tier service.
- Constance Lémuria (Luxury) - Tucked away near Anse Georgette with a golf course, spa and direct beach access.
- Terrasse Sur Lazio (Mid-range) – Stunning apartment in the hills with a pool and ocean views,
Best for Convenience & Island Hopping – Baie Sainte Anne (Harbour Area)
Staying near the main jetty is ideal if you're planning boat trips or island hopping. It's also a practical base with local shops, ferry access, and a more authentic, everyday feel.

Recommended hotels ✨
- Coco de Mer Hotel and Black Parrot Suites (Luxury) – Luxury beachfront resort with infinity pool and spa
- Colibri Hotel (Mid-range) – Hillside boutique stay with incredible views over the harbour and lush gardens.
- Maison Zelda Self Catering (Budget) – Affordable, well-equipped apartments just a short walk from the ferry.
Where to Stay in La Digue
La Digue is small and car-free, so it's perfect for a slow-paced island experience. You’ll get around by bike, and no matter where you stay, you’re never far from the beach. Most accommodations are clustered in the same area, so there's not much variation or difference in location.
Best for beach access - Beachfront in La Passe or La Réunion
If you want to be on the beach, go for a hotel along the beachfront in La Passe or La Réunion. Although the Anse Source d'Argent Beach in La Digue is the most beautiful, you can't stay very close or have direct access.

This area is great as it's close to everything, including Anse Source d'Argent, the port and the town; so you'll be close to main attractions and restaurants.
Recommended hotels ✨
- Le Domaine de L'Orangeraie Resort and Spa (Luxury) – La Digue’s top luxury resort with beautiful villas, a spa and lush tropical gardens.
- Le Nautique Waterfront Hotel La Digue (Mid-range) – Stylish beachfront boutique hotel with stunning sunset views.
- Le Relax Beach House (Budget) – Cosy beachfront guesthouse with a great location.
Best for a Bit of Everything – Central & West Coast (Near Anse La Reunion & La Passe)
If you just want to be central and close to everything, and you don't mind not being on the beachfront, then staying in the centre of the village is a great option. You'll be close to restaurants, bike rentals, the ferry and some of the island’s best beaches. A perfect all-round base for exploring La Digue.

We stayed at Cocolux Luxury Apartments which was tucked further back in the village, and was very peaceful and quiet. As La Digue is so small, it was easy to cycle everywhere within 10 minutes.
Recommended hotels ✨
- Le Repaire – Boutique Hotel & Restaurant (Luxury) – Elegant beachfront boutique hotel with beautifully designed rooms and a popular Italian restaurant.
- CocoLux Luxury Apartments (Mid-range) – Spacious and modern self-catering apartments just a short walk from the beach and ferry.
- Villa Hortensia (Budget) – Affordable guesthouse with a local feel and a quiet, friendly atmosphere.
